When all the trees have been cut down
When all the animals have been hunted
When all the waters are polluted
When all the air is unsafe to breathe
Only then will you discover you cannot eat money.
Cree Saying
Retaliation
We got some difficult days ahead. But it really doesn't matter with me now because I've been to the mountain top. And I don't mind. Like anybody I would like to live - a long life, longevity has it's place. But I'm not concerned about that now. I just want to do God's will, and he's allowed me to go up to the mountain. And I've looked over and I've seen the promised land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight that we as a people will get to the promised land.
This conflict was begun on the timing and terms of others.

And I kept thinking, I don’t want, I’m not ready to die, I don’t want to die right now. And I kept thinking, I don’t want, I’m not ready to die, I don’t want to die right now.
Burst into flame

Firemen started coming through, and er, they led us down company 22 New York City. fucking heroes, not one of them had a tear in their eye... So we got down to the bottom and the plaza, there were bodies every where and they were all on fire... roasting... it was the most horrific thing you've ever seen in your life.
And I kept thinking, I don’t want, I’m not ready to die, I don’t want to die right now.
Burst into Flame
Let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia. Let Freedom ring from Look Out Mountain of Tennessee. Let freedom ring from every hill and molehill of Mississippi. From every mountainside. Let freedom ring and when this happens. When we allow freedom ring. When we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and gentiles, Protestants and catholic will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual free at last, free at last, thank God Almighty, we are free at last!
We walked as quickly as we could down the stairs and I remember, er, just counting the floors and knowing that each floor I was closer to living.
There were all on fire. There were all on fire.
I remember, er, just counting the floors and knowing that each floor I was closer to living.
There were all on fire. There were all on fire.
We walked as quickly as we could down the stairs and I remember, er, just counting the floors and knowing that each floor I was closer to living. I remember, er, just counting the floors and knowing that each floor I was closer to living.
There were bodies everywhere.
I remember, er, just counting the floors and knowing that each floor I was closer to living, living living...
Burst into flame. Burst into flame.

This is a NBC news hotline special report, here is Don Hickman in Memphis. Dr. Martin Luther King Junior was shot outside a Memphis motel this afternoon. His condition is not known at this time. Police put out a wanted bulletin for a quote, young white male, well dressed, who was seen running from a brick building across the street from the Lorraine hotel. Police said the assailant apparently jumped into a late model white car after the shooting and sped away.
Usage
I suppose it could be used as a source to stimulate a piece of creative writing. Or students could jot down words while they listened and then use them in a discussion. I've never used this in class. If you do, please let me know how it goes.
